Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers is Opening a Second Location in Louisville, Kentucky, in the Heart of St. Matthews on Monday, September 3rd

Louisville, KY (PRWEB) August 27, 2012

Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers is proud to announce their newest opening in Louisville, Kentucky, in the heart of St. Matthews, on Monday, September 3rd. This Mellow, which marks the second location for Louisville, is located at 3920 Shelbyville Road.

The owners of this location, Jason Nase and Damon Coates, are thrilled to open a Mellow in St. Matthews: The St. Matthews area is a great fit for Mellow Mushroom. It has a great history, charm and well-established neighborhood feel, while still being a part of a big city, explains Nase.

The menu features a variety of pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers. Options for vegetarians, vegans, kids, and those on a gluten-free plan are also available.

The St. Matthews Mellow Mushroom location, deep in the heart of an older neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, allowed the owners to tap into the history of the region. Passersby’s will be treated to antique items and hand carved wooden statues on display in the large rollup windows which introduce the soul of the store to the street. Once inside, guests are greeted with reinvented antiques and found objects that have been repurposed in unique ways to house retail merchandise, offer ambient lighting and video. Reclaimed wood from the original building can be found on the floor and ceiling joist. Metal sculpture dragon flies with illuminated Edison bulb tails guide you to the bar, reclaimed chandeliers add eclectic flavor to the ceilings and booth seating, and a variety of found-object art adorns the walls for visual impact throughout the restaurant.

Suiting any diners needs, this Mellow has 250 plus seats and includes a party room for up to 35 people, a patio and garage doors that open to give a great open air feel. This location also features a full service bar with a wide array of liquor, craft beer and wine options. Join the Mellow Mushroom Beer club and make your way through 40 drafts and an endless variety of bottled beer, while receiving member-only rewards along the way. Throughout the week, you can catch trivia nights, live music and sporting events on 13 TVs.

The Mellow Mushroom will operate 7 days a week Monday- Sunday, and opens at 11 a.m. For more information on Mellow Mushroom St. Matthews, visit http://www.mellowmushroom.com/stmatthews and follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/#!/mellowmushroomstmatthews

New Foodborne Illnesses Stats Released – Bisnar | Chase Law Firm Comments on Lack of Progress

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) August 20, 2012

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently posted online the latest data available for foodborne illnesses in 2011. According to the Binar | Chase law firm, it appears that no real progress has been made on reducing the number of foodborne illnesses. For several of them, the numbers actually increased. More than 48 million Americans contract some type of food related illness each year. Most cases are not serious and only last a few days, but some can be life-threatening.

Compared to the 2006-2008 period, Camplylobacter, Salmonella, Listeria and E Coli have all increased. (*1)

John Bisnar, a foodborne illness attorney, is disheartened by this news. “I hope that more progress is made in getting the legislation to enforce the Food Safety Act that was passed 2 years ago. Without adequate enforcement, we as a nation are more susceptible to a foodborne calamity.”

What Are The Common Types of Foodborne Illnesses?

Chef Aprons, Kitchen Aprons, Cooking Aprons – 15% Discount – No Minimum

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 16, 2012

Save 15% on Crooked Brooks 35″W x 37″L Waist Apron Style # 700, in White 10 oz. 100% cotton Bull Denim. Regularly priced at $ 20.00, it is now on sale for $ 17.00 with no minimum from 8/16 thru 8/23 while supplies last.

Although all Crooked Brook aprons are made to order, they have various styles and sizes that were production overruns; these are the mens and womens aprons they offer at a discount. Jamie Oliver – The Minister of Food

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) August 10, 2012

Childhood obesity, processed food options for school lunches and kids who dont know how to cook a trifecta of problems facing youth today. Jamie Oliver, better known as The Naked Chef has taken these problems to heart and spent the good portion of his career educating Great Britain and us across the pond about how to return to good food and healthy eating.

Jamie Oliver is a world-renowned chef, a best-selling author, owner of three restaurants-with one of them, Union Jacks, partnered up with local Arizona resident Chris Bianco, winner of TED Talks prize in 2010, invited to cook for Former Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Obama, and runs the Jamie Oliver Foundation.

This month in Green Living magazine, Editor-in-Chief Tishin Donkersley, M.A. puts on her apron and takes on the apprentice role as Jamie shares his inspirational Foundation efforts to combat the public threat of childhood obesity through his four projects in England: Fifteen Apprentice Program, Kitchen Garden Project, Jamies School Dinners and Minister of Food; and in the United States: Food Revolution.

His direction is clear, to inspire as many people as possible to love and enjoy good food, Jamie states.

With the United States facing an increase in childhood obesity from 5 to 18 percent for children aged 12 to 19 and the health risks associated with obesity, nutrition and healthy eating is at the forefront of this public threat.

There is plenty more we can do to combat unhealthy food provided for our children in our schools. Corn dogs and chips as lunch options are not acceptable, its adding to the problem! Donkersley said.

In Jamie Olivers Food Revolution TV series, his goal was to improve the health of school children in Huntington, VA, deemed the unhealthiest city in 2006 by the CDC. He began by removing flavored milk and switching out French fries for a salad bar. Needless to say he was met with criticism from the community and media. The Food Revolution is about saving lives, Jamie states. Did he win or lose? Find out how his Revolution turned out, read the one-on-one interview and learn more from Jamie Oliver in the August issue.

How can parents start their own Revolution? Easy-they can set a good example at home, cook and eat real food from scratch, and teach their children the basic cooking skills, Jamie said.

Also in the August issue, Deepak Chopra, M.D., an international expert in the area of mind-body healing, a best-selling author, and the co-founder of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing discusses Restful Sleep the Ayruvedic Way, how to combat allergies with honey in Honey: A Super Food, becoming a Master Gardener and dog-friendly restaurants.
